GREENING THE 2008 SYRACUSECoE SYMPOSIUM

SyracuseCoE is minimizing the environmental impact of the Symposium by:

• Decreasing the amount of solid waste
• Maximizing recycling opportunities
• Reducing energy and water consumption
• Minimizing/off-setting transportation and energy emissions
• Disposing of waste in an environmentally responsible manner
• Eliminating the use of harmful chemicals
• Printing on post-consumer waste paper.

SyracuseCoE and the Oncenter have agreed on the following sustainable catering policies:

• Use locally-grown produce
• Use cloth linens instead of paper
• Use china, glassware, and silverware instead of plastic
• Use recycled and/or recyclable materials for boxed lunches
• Eliminate individual packets for sugar, creamers, and condiments
• Use pitchers for drinking water
• Donate surplus food to the Food Bank of CNY   
• Increase use of recycling containers
• Compost food waste
• Select seafood responsibly
