Deconstruction, as opposed to demolition, is the dismantling of a structure in such a way as to save materials for re-use in other buildings or recycling.  Construction and demolition (C&D) waste is generally sent to landfills or, in Onondaga County, to support OCRRA’s incinerator. We believe deconstruction can be a sustainable alternative to demolition, and has the potential to create jobs in the CNY area.
