Organization and Operations
Organizationally, the Syracuse Center of Excellence in Environmental and Energy Systems (SyracuseCoE) is a federation of members, including industrial firms, businesses, research organizations, economic development agencies, and academic institutions. Within the federation, SyracuseCoE recognizes three kinds of members: partners, charter members, and collaborators.

The federation concept means that members work together to advance their common interests without compromising individual identities and autonomies.
Syracuse University leads the overall SyracuseCoE federation, and also its primary research enterprise, the Environmental Quality Systems (EQS) Strategically Targeted Academic Research (STAR) Center.
SyracuseCoE Industry Collaborations, formerly the New York Indoor Environmental Quality (NYIEQ) Center, leads corporate and commercialization programs within the SyracuseCoE.
