The Syracuse CoE includes the activities of the New York Indoor Environmental Quality (NYIEQ) Center, Inc., and the Environmental Quality Systems (EQS) STAR Center.  Funding to support activities of the Syracuse CoE and its component entities has been secured from multiple sources, including:
  • $26 million committed by New York Governor George E. Pataki for premier facilities available for research and development, including $16 million that will be used to design and construct a headquarters facility for the CoE in downtown Syracuse;

  • $28.2 million secured by Congressman James T. Walsh for projects funded by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the U.S. Department of Energy;

  • $15.9 million awarded in May 2001 by the New York State Office of Science, Technology, and Academic Research (NYSTAR) to establish the EQS STAR Center; and

  • $2.6 million secured by New York State Assemblyman William Magnarelli for projects administered by the NYIEQ Center, including its Commercialization Assistance Program.
